Retreat

A Mind that is stretched by new experiences can never return to its previous dimensions
— Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

My name is Jennifer ‘Suki’ My namesake means Beloved in Japanese.

I am a chef, storyteller, and healer who believes food is never just food. It is history, love, grief, and healing carried in the hands that prepare it and the hearts that share it.

An Austin native, I spent nearly two decades in the Dallas restaurant industry after graduating from the Texas Culinary Academy. Those years sharpened my craft, but they also left me burned out and searching for balance. It wasn’t until I stepped into somatic yoga and a deeper journey of self-healing that I began to reclaim my body, my purpose, and the joy of cooking as medicine.

Cooking, for me, has always felt like remembering something ancient, like stepping into a lineage I had always belonged to. It is an oral tradition, passed down in gestures, in unmeasured handfuls, in the quiet way a recipe becomes an inheritance.

I cook because it matters. Because a meal, prepared with care and intention, is a way of saying I love you without words.

Through my upcoming cookbook, Soul Nourished, and through retreats and community gatherings, I invite you back to the table—not just to eat, but to gather. To heal. To remember what should never be lost.2a9a466493b31da00ea5.js");</script>
